If At First You Don't Succeed, Try,
Try Again
One of the American proverbs that I like is if at first you don't succeed,
try, try again. This means if you don't succeed the first time just keep
trying and you'll soon get it. Another one of my favorites is the
early bird catches the worm. That means if you wake up enough
you'll get to do more of what you want.

Curiosity Killed the Cat
This phrase means don't get to curious or something bad might happen.
You may look in a bag and see the toy of your dreams. If your parents
find out they won't trust you anymore (plus you won't get the toy).
Cats are always poking around and I think that is where this phrase came
from.

Haste Makes Waste
If you rush when you are doing something you will make a mistake. Then
you will have to do it all over and you wasted more time. So make
sure you do your work carefully.

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
The more apples you eat less sick you'll get and the more healthy you'll
be. I really recommend that you eat a lot of apples because if you
don't you might get the flu and than you might barf or you might have to
get a needle.

Make Your Own Bed and You Lay In It
Sometimes we make good choices, and bad choices, Lets pretend I have
a
Social Studies test tomorrow. Last night I did not feel like
studying, and I watched T. V. instead. Well I took the test, and
I got an F, since I chose not to study. This saying says we must
learn. To accept the consequences on whatever decisions we make.

A Stitch in Time Saves Nine
" A Stitch in Time Saves Nine" is a common American proverb. It means
that if you have a rip in your clothes you will only have to stitch once
unless you wait until it gets bigger, then you will have to stitch 9 more
times. It also means that if you have a problem you should take care of
it before it turns into a big problem.

The Early Bird Gets the Worm
It's important to do things on time because you can miss out on stuff.
For example five kid's go to a party. One kid is for the party. So
he doesn't get cake and a favor. That is why you should do stuff on time.

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
The proverb I picked is "An apple a day keeps the doctor away".
The doctor away." The proverb means if you eat the right foods you won't
have to go to the doctor as much. This is one of my favorite proverbs because
I hear it a lot. I take that advice and eat a apple for lunch every
day.

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
"An apple a day keeps, the doctor away. This proverb teaches
us that eating healthy. Apples are very good for they are very good
for your teeth and they are very nourishing. If everybody ate healthy
foods, fewer people wouldn't get sick and have to go to the doctor.

Meaning eating good food is good for you.

Haste Makes Waste
The proverb "Haste Makes Waste" means if you hurry you will eventually
forget something. If you hurry when you are working you will not
do your best work and it will be sloppy. It is better to take your
time because you might have to do it over again, and that would be wasting
your time.

Dead Men Tell No Tales
I think it means -Dead men or anything male can't tell anything about
how they died. Hey those household girls can't tell a thing
either. Secrets can't be told after someone dies.

It's Only the Tip of the Iceberg
What you've seen so far barely suggests the worst of the problem.
This proverb originated in the mid twentieth century. The metaphor
alludes to the fact that an ice burgs biggest part floats unseen under
the water, exposing only the small tip.

Play Your Best Don't Win Your Best
I think that even if you do lose a game that does not mean that you
are a loser. I also think that even if you do win a game that you
don't have to brag or hurt the other team's feelings. It also doesn't
mean that you are better with everything then them because they just might
be better at math or English then you.
